The huge growth, tipping the scales at nearly 56 pounds, had been growing inside the 54-year-old patients' uterus for 18 months. It was taken out during a four hour operation at Gandulfo Hospital near the capitol of Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires, Argentina (CNN) -- Three doctors in Argentina have been charged with homicide in the death of a baby during birth in 2008, the government-funded news agency said Friday.

The doctors were charged because the Santojanni Hospital in Buenos Aires, the nation's capital, did not have an anesthetist on duty when the mother required emergency Caesarean section surgery to deliver the baby, the Telam news service reported.

An anesthetist from another hospital was brought to Santojanni, but the baby was stillborn, Telam said.
